Sometimes life can feel like it has gotten away from us. We can feel disconnected from work, friends, even family. Sometimes it can feel like we just don't "fit" in our own lives, like there is a disconnect between what we do and what we think of as our true nature. We sometimes feel like we do things that don't correspond to who we think we are. The disconnect between our inner sense of self and our external actions can cause physical symptoms. We can find ourselves with lingering feelings of irritability, headaches, upset stomach, or an inability to concentrate.

When our inner sense of self corresponds with our external actions, we feel like things are right with the world, and with those around us. We are able to appreciate ourselves, to stand on our own, and to meet the demands of our daily lives. Harmony is the correspondence of inner self and outer action. Harmony occurs when we give ourselves permission to be who we are, and when we act in accordance with our values and feelings. Harmony is the achievement of inner consent for the things we do.

Harmony requires a conversation with ourselves, an internal focus in which we consider: "What do I like? What is important to me? Are the things I agree to do okay with me? Free from the judgment of others or my own nagging self, what would I do in this situation?

Through a continuous process of focus and acting with inner consent, we are able to value our uniqueness and realize the best of ourselves.
